Sommelier in Paris

Duration: 6 months
Where: Paris 9th
Language level: french (minimum B1 if foreign), English level B2 and a third language would be a plus
Gratification: legal internship
Advantages: 50% of transportation fees (metro card), 1 staff meal during working hours, 2 non-consecutive days off and split shifts schedulesprobable (work breaks between shifts)

Your duties

Assist the Sommelier in all operational, managerial, and administrative management of the department:

  • Be proficient in the LQA service and quality standards
  • Advise customers by offering wines and other drinks in line with the Chef’s cuisine and that meet the customer’s expectations
  • Take orders, prepare the order, and provide service
  • Be proficient in service in order to assist the dining room staff as needed
  • Promote and make additional sales (aperitifs, liqueurs, etc.)
  • Set up the cellar and the pantry (aperitifs, cellar selection of the day, etc.)
  • Monitor inventory and submit requisitions to the Treasurer’s Department.
  • Restock the drinks in accordance with the procedures in place.
  • Be responsible for the tableware, glassware, equipment, and linen made available to him or her, ensuring their upkeep and tidiness.
  • Participate in the cleaning and upkeep of the office, bar, reserves, material, and equipment, as well as the dining room and its surrounding areas.
  • Implement hygiene measures according to the current standards recommended by the HACCP method (hygiene and preservation procedures for wines and spirits)
  • Ensure billing for all drinks
  • Punctually perform any other activities necessary for the proper operation of the beverage service

  • A very good general education
  • Fluency in several foreign languages, including English
  • BTS Complementary mention Sommellerie or other education in Sommellerie in specialized schools
  • Proficiency in computer-related matters
